{"id":6346,"date":"2020-07-02T08:33:41","date_gmt":"2020-07-02T08:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euprojects.al\/?post_type=euprojects&#038;p=6346"},"modified":"2024-09-17T09:33:40","modified_gmt":"2024-09-17T09:33:40","slug":"the-western-balkans-investment-framework-wbif","status":"publish","type":"euprojects","link":"https:\/\/euprojects.al\/sq\/euprojects\/the-western-balkans-investment-framework-wbif\/","title":{"rendered":"The Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0 Western\u00a0 Balkans\u00a0 Investment\u00a0 Framework\u00a0 (WBIF)\u00a0 is\u00a0 a\u00a0 financing\u00a0 facility launched\u00a0 in\u00a0 December\u00a0 2009\u00a0 by\u00a0 the\u00a0 European\u00a0 Commission,\u00a0 together\u00a0 with\u00a0 the Council \u00a0 of \u00a0 Europe \u00a0 Development \u00a0 Bank \u00a0 (CEB), \u00a0 the \u00a0 European \u00a0 Bank \u00a0 for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), Bilateral Donors and Western Balkans beneficiaries with the purpose to deliver funding for\u00a0 strategic investment projects. The KfW and the World Bank Group subsequently joined the Framework. In December 2018, the Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD) became a participating organisation in the WBIF. The WBIF blends grants, loans and beneficiary contributions for infrastructure development in the energy, environment, social, transport and digital sectors as well as for private sector development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The WBIF has supported 33 projects with an estimated value of \u20ac2.3billion in Albania. The country has benefited from 46 grants for technical assistance and investment works with an overall value of \u20ac143.8million, out of which \u20ac128.8 million from the EU and \u20ac15.0 million from other donors. The WBIF financial institutions have extended a further \u20ac470 million in loans signed on 15 projects.
