Overall Objective

The project aims to contribute to the reduction of unemployment rates among young people in rural areas of Montenegro and Albania by establishing new and improving existing production, processing and trade in fresh raspberries.

Summary of the Project

The project reduced the number of unemployed persons, by improving entrepreneurial skills among unemployed youth and persons with disabilities through training and introduction of modern agri-technologies. Moreover, the project aimed to increase the visibility and promotion of the green economy and the sustainable development of raspberry production.

Activities

• Trainings on production of raspberries
• Trainings on establishing start-up companies and on product marketing
• Mentoring of the producers and purchase of seedling materials for trainees/future raspberry farmers
• Organisation of the Raspberry Fair in Montenegro with active participation of the Albanian counterparts
• Establishment of local associations of raspberry producers in Petnjica and Vau i Dejes

Expected Results

• New jobs created in the cross-border area in the agricultural sector and new producers registered
• Established access to trainings in raspberry cultivation
• Improved cooperation among raspberry producers in Montenegro and Albania
• Population in the cross-border area and target municipalities informed about the production of raspberries in the area through a strong communication and visibility campaign
