Overall Objective

The overall objective of the project is the improvement of the transport conditions around Vlora, a major touristic city, and in the wider coastal area, directly related to commerce and tourism.

Summary of the Project

This project supervised the works of the construction of the Vlora bypass. The construction works are funded by the European Union (EU), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) through a single tendered works contract contracted and managed by the Albanian Roads Authority.
The Vlora bypass is located in the southeast of Albania and will cover the coastal road from Vlora towards the south of Albania, through the coastal villages, down to Saranda.

• Review and approval of working drawings
• Day-to-day supervision of the construction works
• Quality control and performance tests
• Intermediate and final inspections

Expected Results

The future road will have a length of 29 km, starting from the roundabout at the end of the double carriage way Levan Vlora and ending with the roundabout connecting the bypass with the Orikumi–Himara road.
