Overall Objective

The objectives of the project are to foster cooperation in the cross-border area and to improve the efficiency and quality of employment services and vocational training services in order to achieve the sustainable employment of job seekers. The objectives include training youth to support their socio-economic integration in the cross-border region.

Summary of the Project

The Skilled Workforce for Economic Integration (SWEI) project aimed to achieve a skilled labour force among youth, based on labour market demands. It aimed for better employment opportunities in the cross-border region through improved training, job mediation and start-ups.

Activities

  • Development of 3 vocational education standards for collection, cultivation, processing and commercial promotion of forests fruits, medical herbs, or both, as well as accreditation of the qualifications in the relevant institutions
  • Organisation of 2 trainings (15 working days each) for the unemployed in collection, cultivation, processing and commercial promotion of medical herbs
  • Organisation of 2 trainings (15 working days each) for the unemployed in collection, cultivation, processing and commercial promotion of forest fruits
  • Organisation and implementation of 2 trainings for the unemployed in business start-up
  • Interconnection of beneficiaries with Active Labour Market Measures in both countries
  • Networking of trained beneficiaries with collection centres in both countries
  • Information session for beneficiaries about the possibilities for grant schemes and employment opportunities

Expected Results

  • Vocational education standards, curricula and qualifications are developed and formally approved by relevant institutions in both countries
  • 80 unemployed people are trained for collection, cultivation, processing and commercial promotion of forests fruits and medical herbs
  • 40 unemployed people are trained in business start-up
  • At least 60 beneficiaries are economically integrated through job mediation, family businesses and start-ups
  • The connection between businesses in the field of agriculture (specifically forest-grown products and medical herbs) in the cross-border area is improved
