Overall Objective

The project aims to enhance the competitiveness of the tourism sector through the economic valorisation of the cultural and natural heritage.

Summary of the Project

The project contributed to the preservation of traditional architecture, as a significant part of cultural heritage in the cross-border area.

Activities

  • Development of a study on traditional architecture in the cross-border area
  • Development of designs for new buildings based on traditional architecture, available for public use
  • Cultural landscaping of 4 rural communities and rehabilitation of water mills/wells
  • Development of a cultural route involving at least 10 traditional buildings
  • Set-up of ethno rooms in at least two rural communities
  • Organising exhibitions about the usage of traditional architecture styles in modern buildings in at least 6 towns in the cross-border area

Expected Results

  • Preservation and sustainable exploitation of the cultural heritage in terms of tourism ensured
  • Access to local culture for tourists and locals facilitated
  • Knowledge and awareness about cultural heritage in the cross-border area increased
