Overall Objective

The project aims to stimulate the sustainable usage of natural resources for the protection of the environment.

Summary of the Project

The project increased awareness about the sustainable usage of natural resources and reduced the negative effects of the usage of pesticides and fertilisers on the environment.

Activities

  • Trainings for farmers on the practical usage of fertigation
  • Piloting of the usage of fertigation in two specific areas in the cross-border region through the provision of sub-grants for the interested agricultural producers
  • Analysis of the effectiveness of the usage of fertigation on the reduction of fertilisers, and consequently the reduction of nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen in the environment
  • Awareness raising, including about the sustainable usage of natural resources
  • Introduction of a composting system as a technique for the reduction of fertilisers
  • Cross-border exchange of practices on composting systems

Expected Results

  • Equipped 2 agro-chemical laboratories
  • Trained farmers in fertigation
  • Established new organisation of agricultural producers in Korca
  • Published analysis on the positive effects of the usage of fertigation
  • Development of eco-gardens and eco-patrols in 15 schools
  • Supported actions of agricultural producers for the rational usage of pesticides and fertilisers in order to reduce the negative effects on the environment
