Overall Objective
To enhance cross-border economic activities through unique sustainable tourism models based on natural, traditional, and cultural values.
Summary of the Project
This project contributed to further developing the Via Dinarica long-distance trail and to increasing the tourism offer that links mountain communities and tourism stakeholders in the target area, aiming at the valorisation of the unique natural wealth and cultural heritage of the area. It also raised awareness about the economic, environmental and social benefits of long-distance trails, increased the attractiveness and competitiveness of the tourism offer as well as increased the number of visitors through small scale interventions, effective promotion and marketing of the destination.
Activities
- Improvement and upgrade of the small scale tourism infrastructure
- Mapping existing touristic vendors and service providers and concluding agreements with them
- Development of touristic offers within Via Dinarica
- Mapping and GPS tracking of the routes in the cross-border region
- Joint Market Access Programme
- Building the capacities of mountaineering clubs Albania and Kosovo*
- Promotion, awareness raising and destination marketing
Expected Results
- Via Dinarica further expanded to include the cross-border Albania-Kosovo* geographic region
- The local tourism offer expanded
- New and market-driven products and services identified and innovatively supported
- Joint tourism offer promoted and regional network strengthened
- Natural, cultural and historical heritage better promoted as a sustainable income generation asset
- International tourism fair organised
