Overall Objective

Project’s overall objective is to support the BMP to achieve effective border control and surveillance to prevent and combat the trafficking in narcotics.
The project is designed to achieve the following specific objective: to contribute to an enhanced BMP capacity to counter organized cross-border crime and drug trafficking through the provision of modern specialized technical means and the capacity-building of BMP staff.

Summary of the Project

The project supports the provision of modern technical means and specific trainings to the BMP in order to enhance the Albanian national capacity to counter organized cross-border crime and drug trafficking.

Activities

• Assessment of the BMP gaps and needs in land and blue border surveillance equipment and training
• Procurement of the specialized land and blue border surveillance equipment and handover to the BMP
• Review and update of the relevant BMP standard operating procedures (SOPs) to integrate the provisions on the use, storage and maintenance of the newly supplied equipment
• Strengthening capacities of the BMP officials to use and maintain the newly provided equipment

Expected Results

Gaps and needs in specialized land and blue border surveillance equipment and training of the BMP are assessed and the list of equipment is updated

BMP is equipped with modern technical means enhancing its capacity to interdict and counter drugs trafficking and other cross-border crime at land and blue borders

SOPs to integrate the provisions on the use, storage and maintenance of the newly supplied technical equipment are updated

Enhanced capacity of the BMP officials to use and maintain the newly provided equipment
