Overall Objective
Improve the governance and oversight of budget planning and implementation by strengthening the capacities of Civil Society.
Organisations at the local and national levels to effectively participate in budget planning and to monitor and evaluate budget implementation.
Summary of the Project
Grant to a consortium led by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) to support activities to improve budget accountability and budget transparency at both national and local level. This includes capacity building of civil society organisations and journalists, and support to public entities to improve budget transparency.
Activities
– Capacitated and empowered civil society organisations at the local and national level to effectively participate in budgetary planning and monitor and evaluation its implementation;
– Improved current government policies and practices on budget planning, implementation and reporting through greater public oversight and gender mainstreaming.
